Hardship scheme for houses for sale 'good news'

The hardship scheme for homeowners with houses for sale in
Birmingham or London has been welcomed by a property expert.
Earlier this week, the government announced people with property
along the proposed route of the London to Birmingham high-speed
rail link (HS2) will be compensated as part of a hardship
programme.
The secretary of state for transport Philip Hammond revealed that
property owners will be given money if they have to sell their
properties as a result of the rail development.
Head of Knight Frank's specialist HS2 team
James Del Mar commended the initiative, saying: "It is good news
that the government has agreed to introduce an exceptional hardship
scheme for those whose properties lie along the proposed route of
HS2."
Those eligible to apply for the hardship scheme include people who
have had to sell their property due to the HS2 forcing them to
change their employment location or face extreme financial
pressure.
