Now is good time to buy, says ARLA

Now is a good time for those who can afford it to invest in
property, the Association of Residential Lettings Agents (ARLA) has
said.
ARLA revealed in its quarterly members' survey for the first three
months of 2009 that landlords are buying more properties than they
are selling for the first time in two years.
Operations manager at ARLA Ian Potter commented that the present
time represents a promising period in the market for investors to
buy, "provided they are not going to be overstretching themselves
on their borrowing and that they have done sufficient market
research in the area".
He suggested that those keen to invest should check if the area
they are considering is seeing a lot of buyer activity, as this
could indicate whether it is a good place to make an
acquisition.
The ARLA news may be a further indication of optimism in the
buy-to-let market, alongside the findings of the first quarter
survey by Young Group this week.
Young's research showed that more investors are planning to buy in
the next 12 months than was the case in the fourth quarter of
2008.
